Alexander Skarsgård is missing Sweden and refuses to buy a house in USA.

– I feel reluctant doing it. Somehow it gets more permanent. I don’t know when I want to move back home again.

Facts: Alexander Skarsgård
Name: Alexander Skarsgård.
Age: 34.
Lives: Rented house in Los Angeles.
Family: Dad Stellan, mom My, six siblings.
Currently in the news: The movie Puss, premieres August 20, and the third season the TV-series True Blood, which begins on Canal Plus now in August. Part of  Lars von Trier’s Melancholia which is produced in Sweden. Is doing the lead in Battleship with Rihanna, which is produced in Hawaii.

Alexander Skarsgård has been home in Sweden and he is enjoying it.

-In Los Angeles you can’t walk anywhere. You have to drive a car. That’s why it’s wonderful to be in Göteborg, to be able to walk about and have a coffee with your friends and look at the town. There is more of a city pulse here than there is in LA, he says.

But now it’s definitely Los Angeles and the rented house up in Hollywood Hills which is the base.

The TV-series True Blood is a mega success, the third season is currently being aired in USA and already this winter the production of season 4 will start.

Alexander Skarsgård has also become a sought after movie actor – the thriller Straw Dogs has already been filmed and in the end of August he’s flying to Hawaii to begin production on the science fiction movie Battleshipwith the singer Rihanna.

– So far I don’t know much about her, he says.

Alexander Skarsgård is in Göteborg because he has one of the leads in Lars von Trier’s star packed movieMelancholia.

The base for the production is Trollhättan, but for a couple of weeks they are filming at Tjolöholms castle south of Kungsbacka. As is usual when it concerns von Trier everything is a secret, and Alexander says he really isn’t allowed to say anything.

– Yes, there is a wedding and I’m getting married to Kirsten Dunst and I’m very much in love. I’m very happy, in the beginning, he says. He denies that his father Stellan plays his father in the movie.

– No, he is my best man. We do not have many scenes together, but it’s fun just being in the same movie and to be able to spend the evenings together.

It’s the same case with the filming of  Johan Kling’s Puss, which will premiere on August 20.  Alexander and his brother Gustaf have big parts in the movie, but they don’t have a single scene together.

– It’s a bit sad, but it was fun to be on the same production together.

For Alexander the production of Puss became the hardest he ever experienced in his career. In the middle of the production the director Johan Kling suffered from burn out and the production halted for a while. When it started again, Alexander Skarsgård was in Louisiana where he worked on the thriller Straw Dogs.

Everything collided and it became a tremendous jig saw puzzle. Skarsgård rehearsed in Louisiana, then he flew for 24 hours to get to the studio in Visby.

– This was a year after we first started production on Puss, at that point I had long hair, but at the time it was short.. .

– They had made a wig which I had not had time to test. So when I got to Visby I had to put on the wig and film for three days and then fly back to Louisiana.

Also this day in Göteborg things are piling up for Alexander Skarsgård. What was supposed to have been a peaceful time at the hotel becomes a car journey to the production studio at Hisingen. Alexander Skarsgård has to sync sixteen lines to to episode eleven of True Blood.

When the job is done he comes out of the studio drenched in sweat…

– It must have been about 600 degrees in there. And there was no time code so I had to watch the scenes on a monitor and then work with the directions from the director who was in LA, local time seven in the morning, and who gave me instructions over a bad telephone line.

But Alexander isn’t complaining, it’s the opposite.

– It wouldn’t occur to me to whine. I’m so grateful to have a job. Most people in the actors union in the USA do not have jobs, and I’ve been there.

And he takes the unwelcome attention of the paparazzi in Los Angeles in its stride.  He laughs when the subject is raised.

– Well, they have good knowledge about what you do. If fans approach me and want an autograph, it’s just fun. It means they like the series. But it’s hard when you get a camera shoved up your face when I’m out eating lunch with a friend.

The problem with paparazzi photographers spread to Sweden May this year when Alexander and Kate Bosworth visited Stockholm and every step they took was watched by photographers working for the evening papers.

– It felt weird, of course. I grew up in Sweden, with Stellan as my dad, and I’m used to nobody caring about what I did.  Sweden has always felt like a safe place, one is able to be oneself. So of course it was a bit hard.
